Obituary of Billy Ray Hatten
Funeral services for Billy Ray “Lightnin” Hatten age 67 of Columbia will be held 12:00 PM Friday November 15, 2019 from the sanctuary of Burroughs Pentecostal Church with Rev. Richard Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Burroughs Garden of Memories under direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia. Visitation will be on Friday at the church from 10:00 am until 12:00 Noon.
Billy Ray Hatten was born on September 13, 1952 in Columbia to the union of his parents, Rev. Ralph Hatten and Helen Duff Hatten and he passed from this life on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at the St. Frances Medical Center in Monroe. Known to everyone as “Lightnin”, he was loved by all who knew him. In his earlier years he loved duck hunting. To know him was to love him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, by his daughter, April Laine Hatten; his brothers: James Michael Hatten and Gene “Pee Wee” Hatten and by his sister-in-law, Peggy Hatten.
Left to cherish his memory, the mother of his children, Nancy Cox Hatten; his daughters: Misty Poole (Charles) and Tiffany Strebeck (Chase); his son, Dustin Hatten (Madison); his brothers: Donnie Hatten and Rev. Allen Hatten (Maxine); and his sister, Joanne Hatten; his grandchildren that he treasured: Chelsea Ingle, Alexis Edwards, Dalton Edwards, Jase Strebeck, Addison Strebeck,Ty Strebeck, Madeline Swett, Landry Hatten and Ridge Hatten; and one great-grandson, Luke Ingle.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dalton Edwards, Charles Poole, Delton Hatten, Mac Hatten, Andy Hatten and Chase Strebeck. Honorary pallbearers include Mike “Nort” Nelson, Eddie Parker, Gunny Hendrix, Jason Braddock, Timmy Brown, Troy Brown and William Hatten.
