Funeral services for Mr. Willie Otto "W.O." Stamper, age 76 of Olla, will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, March 3, 2010 from the sanctuary of Olla Pentecostal Church in Olla with Rev. Daryl Floyd and Bro. Clay Hutto officiating. Interment will follow at Olla Cemetery in Olla. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon at Olla Pentecostal Church from 2 PM to 9 PM then the church will be opened again on Wednesday morning from 9 AM until time of service. Mr. W.O. was born in Grayson on February 28, 1934 to the union of Willie Freeman Stamper and Eula Ella Williams Stamper and went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Hardtner Medical Center in Urania. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter; Teresa Stamper, grandson; Billy Thornton and brother; Wilbur L. Stamper. W.O. was a humble man who was well loved and respected. He enjoyed hunting pheasant, elk and duck and white perch fishing. He touched so many lives by his actions and thoughtfulness. W.O. was one of the most efficient backhoe operators. He was generous with his time by digging graves for families in the community. He was recognized by Governor Blanco with a proclamation for his efforts in the clean up after the tornado hit Olla. The National Guard awarded him with a medal and the Town of Olla with a dinner in his honor. He taught many men in the oilfield and logging industry with hands-on experience and life lessons. W.O. never wanted praise or recognition for his giving ways. You were simply honored if he called you friend. Survivors include his wife; Bonnie Shelton Stamper of Olla, daughter; Sherrie Bruce of Olla, two brothers: C.R. Stamper of Alexandria and C.L. Stamper and wife, Kathy of Natchitoches, three sisters: Evelyn Berry and husband, Jeff, Joyce Washer and husband, Eloy and Bonnie White and husband, Miller all of Grayson, two grandchildren who he loved deeply: Cody Sullivan and Emily Sullivan, special son; Michael "Hodge" Sullivan and special friend; Curtis McNaughton and numerous other family and friends. Pallbearers will be Michael Sullivan, Cody Sullivan, Curtis McNaughton, John Thornton, Mike Nowlin, Leonard Henderson, Mark Olden and Monty Atkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Chad McCartney, Cecil Jones, Sonny King, Richard King, Leroy James, David James, Chuck Long, M.W. Fife, Dougie Murphy, J. Lynn Atkins, Mark King, Ken Albritton, Bud Wilson, Joe White, Lester Smith, Joe Cruse, Larry Robertson, James Westbrooks and Alson Taylor.
