A celebration of life for Vivian Foster will be held at Springhill Baptist Church on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at 1:00 PM.
Vivian Laverle Mayes Foster was born on February 27, 1943 in Caldwell Parish to the union of her parents, Herman “Red” Mayes and Audie Lillian Roberts Mayes. She passed from this life October 30, 2024 at her residence. Vivian was an educator and taught for more than 20 years at Kelly Elementary School. She was a faithful member of Kelly Baptist Church. She read her bible daily and enjoyed listening to Christian music. She loved the Lord and her faith was strong. She was an avid reader. She had a Kindle but she still went to the library and often returned home with a stack of books. She was also a great cook and imparted her skills to those that would listen. In her earlier years, Vivian enjoyed sewing quilts for her family and sewing clothes and costumes for her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed being outdoors watching hummingbirds and fishing for hours at a time. Later in life, she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, showing them all of the love that she felt. She loved her family. In her last years, she enjoyed being outside, watching the sunrise and sunset while drinking her coffee and talking to her friends on the phone. She touched many lives and will be missed by all.
Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Julia Ann Vanlangendonck; brother, Roy Mayes; granddaughter, Christi Dunn; and a great-granddaughter, Olivia Ramsey. Those left to cherish her memory are her Twin sons: Everett and Ernest Ramsey; daughter Dawn Carlson (Dylan); brothers, John Mayes, Gary Mayes, Jim Mayes (Michele); her sister, Aline Norwood; grandchildren, Destiney Ramsey, Jordan Ramsey, Victoria Ramsey, Kody Ramsey, Canyon Westbrooks, Mallory Westbrooks, Briana Carlson, Kayleigh Carlson, and Gunnar Carlson; great-grandchildren, Brody Bruce, Bailey Bruce, Ella Westbrooks, Aubrey Ramsey, Addison Wise, Remington Sepulvado; as well as a host of other family and friends.
