Vernon Lavelle Redmond

Graveside funeral services for Vernon Lavelle Redmond, age 85 of West Monroe will be held 10:00 AM Monday June 22, 2024 at the Old Union Cemetery west of Grayson, LA. with Chris Austin and Bro. Bobby Wilson officiating. Family and friends may begin to gather at 9:30 AM at the cemetery. Services and interment are under direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia.

Vernon Lavelle Redmond was born on October 29, 1938 at Monroe, LA to the union of his parents, the late William James Redmond, JR and Ila Mae Sanders. He passed from this life on Friday July 19, 2024 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Redmond was also preceded in death by his step-father Chris Adkins; his brother, Ronnie Glen Redmond and his sister Janice Harrell. Vernon served his country in the United States Navy. He loved hunting, shooting pool and "shooting the bull". He was taught from early childhood to work hard and that he did supplying the needs of his beloved family. He worked at his fathers electric motor shop from a very early age and pursued his electronics career, in the oil field, in the Gulf of Mexico and Africa, He worked and retired with the Chevron Oil Company.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Margie Redmond, two brothers, Bobby Redmond and Billy Redmond; two daughters, Lisa Knight and Katie Redmond; step-daughter, Kim Austin (Chris); his sons Vernon L. Redmond, Jr, Houston Redmond, Austin Redmond; step-sons, Phillip Callender (Tammy), Jason Callender (Cesley) and Brad Callender; his sister, Patsy Walsh; and numerous grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends,
