Steve Etheridge

Steve Louis Etheridge, Sr., of Olla, passed away Tuesday, January 13 with his family by his side; he was 69. Visitation will be held at Riser Funeral Home of Olla, on Saturday, January 16, from 5 to 9 p.m., funeral services will be held in the chapel on Sunday, January 17, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Crawford Coon, Rev. Dan McClure, and Rev. David McGuffee officiating. Interment will follow in Urania Cemetery. SL was a proud United States Air Force veteran with eight years of service. Later in life he retired as a production superintendent with Occidental Petroleum abroad. After retirement he was very active in his community serving as a Urania town counsel member, chairman of the Olla recreation board and one of the founding members of the "Olla Social Club." He was known by many and loved by all! His parents, Estelle Collins and Elmer Murray Etheredge have both preceded him in death. Loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Patricia, a brother, Leon Etheredge and wife, Jerry of Olla; three daughters Cathy Kemp and husband Jesse of Houston, TX, Sandra Brodsky and husband Robert of Pittsburgh, PA, Lisa Pennington and husband Steve of Jena; two sons, Shannon Cooley and wife Susie of Cedarville, AR, and Steve Etheridge and wife Jamye of Urania; 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Pall bearers who have been given the honor and privilege to take our father and grandfather to his final resting place are; Steve Etheridge, Sandra Etheridge Brodsky, Ricky Etheredge, Tyler Cruse, Ryan Etheridge, Nathan Etheredge, Matthew Etheridge, and Steve Pennington. Honorary pall bearers are Shannon Cooley, Billy Cronin, Eddie Gomes, Arnie Gomes, Frank Dias, long-time neighbor Jerry Harris, as well as the men of the "Olla Social Club."
