Funeral services for Mr. Cecil Clyde McGuffee, Sr., age 90 of Rosefield, will be held at 2 PM Thursday, December 16, 2010 from the sanctuary of Rosefield Baptist Church with Bro. Bubba Tucker officiating. Interment will follow at Rosefield Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday evening at Rosefield Baptist Church from 5 PM to 8 PM. Mr. McGuffee was born in Rosefield, LA on July 24, 1920, the oldest of Durrull and Alice Sones McGuffee's seven children and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 14, 2010 in Jena, LA. He graduated from Harrisonburg High School in 1937 and served in the US Navy during WWII. In 1949, he married Irene Worley. Cecil raised his family, worked as a game warden for the LA Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and farmed for many years in Enterprise, LA. Cecil was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He also served as a deacon at Rosefield Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents: Durrull and Alice McGuffee, his wife; Irene McGuffee and sister; Sarah McGuffee Jacobson. Survivors include his children: Velma McGuffee Butler and her husband, Gary, Clyde McGuffee, Jr. and his wife, Cindy and Rachel McGuffee Breithaupt and her husband, Craig, grandchildren: Angela Butler and her husband, Paul, Christopher Butler and his wife, Marilyn, Jessica Butler, Andrew Butler, Benjamin Breithaupt and his wife, Kimberly, Evelyn Breithaupt, Jenny McGuffee Floyd and her husband, Toby and Emily McGuffee, eight great-grandchildren: Caitlin Walpole, Leanne Butler, Alexander Butler, Marcus Butler, Josef Butler, James Butler, Zachary Floyd and Sydney Husband and his brothers and sisters: Olivia Horne, Delcie Brown, Elsie Porter, Merwyn McGuffee and Mike McGuffee. Pallbearers will be Christopher Butler, Benjamin Breithaupt, Andrew Butler, Lawrence Porter, Ronnie Brown, Mike McGuffee, Jr. and Alexander Butler. The honorary pallbearer will be Zachary Floyd. Any planned memorials may be made to Rosefield Baptist Church for missions outreach or Gideons International.
