Funeral services for Quinton LaVelle May, Sr., age 84, of Columbia, will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday April 19, 2015 at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia. Don Davis will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow at Fellowship Cemetery west of Columbia. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Quinton was born July 13, 1930 to Clyde May, Sr. and Amanda Rogers May in Columbia and he passed from this life on April 17, 2015 at the LA War Veterans Home in Monroe. He was a member of Columbia Heights Baptist Church. He served his country in the Korean War and was a Veterans Affairs Officer in Caldwell Parish for 30 years. He was preceded in death by his wife: Conelious Clark May; son: Quinton LaVelle May, Jr.; his parents; two brothers: C.N. May and Billy May. He is survived by his daughter: Linda Dianne May Parker of Columbia; brother: Teddy May and his wife Judy of West Monroe; two sisters: Inez Bailey of West Monroe and Jeannette Byrd and her husband Vernon of Bastrop; four grandchildren; Shelly Varnell of Columbia; Summer Ramos and her husband Jesus of Lafayette; Storey Bailes of Columbia, and Adam May of Grayson; four great-grandchildren: Kailey and Kutter Varnell, Gracie Bailes, and Adrian Ramos. Pallbearers will be Jeff Parker, Clint May, Randy Hatten, Ricky Hatten, Joey Roberts, and Billy Byrd. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Columbia Heights Baptist Church men's Sunday School class and Jody Roberts and Leo May.
