Funeral services for Edgar Forrest Cook, Sr., age 90 of Urania, LA will be held at 2 PM Friday, December 4, 2015 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home, Olla, LA with Bro. Warren Maxwell officiating. Burial will be in the Urania Cemetery, Urania, LA. Visitation will be Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Riser Funeral Home, Olla, LA from 4 PM to 8 PM. Mr. Cook was born on July 16, 1925 in Urania, LA to the union of his parents, Hardy Maxwell Cook and Myrtle Lee Cook and passed from this life on Monday, November 30, 2015 at Rapides Regional Medical Center, Alexandria, LA. Forrest proudly served in the US Navy during World War II. He was a Mason for over 50 years and a member of the Woodmen of the World. His passions included researching his family's genealogy and the local history of Urania. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Joseph Todd Cook, II; and his siblings: Charles Cook, Nelda Brakefield and Olive Haywood. Those left to cherish his memory are his most beloved wife of 68 years, Evelyn Barnum Cook of Urania; sons: Edgar Forrest Cook, Jr. and wife, Demetria of Prairieville and Joseph Todd Cook and wife, Amy of Tullos; daughter, Patricia Ann Taylor of Austin, TX; brother, Michial Cook of Fayetteville, AR; sister: Carmen Janet McCleery and husband, Don of Urania; seven grandchildren: Michelle Stanert, Luke Cook, Morgan Cook, Alex Huddelston, Cole Huddelston, Murphy Cook and Kellan Cook; two great-grandchildren: Colton Huddelston and Ancil Huddelston and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Shriner's Hospital, Gideon's or the charity of your choice.
