Funeral services for Mr. Joel Lynn Boone, Sr., age 74 of Columbia, will be 10AM Thursday, September 3, 2009 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Richard Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Cross Roads Cemetery in Grayson. Visitation will be Wednesday evening at the funeral home from 5PM to 9PM. Mr. Boone was born on July 17, 1935 in Delhi to the union of Robert Castion and Bernice Elaine Trim Boone and passed from this life on Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at his residence in Columbia. He worked as a contractor mostly for himself and some times for others. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Mary Ann Winstead Boone, son; Carlton Glen Boone, sister; Anita Flint, granddaughter; Melissa Ann Boone and grandson; Adam Nelson Williams. Survivors include three sons: Joel Lynn Boone, Jr. of Holum, James Edward Boone of Winnsboro and Lawrence Daniel Boone and wife, Sheryl of Columbia, daughter; Linda Ann Boone Spangler and husband, Delbert Ellis of Columbia, sister; Mary Carroll of Hattiesburg, MS, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Cody Hyde, James Barnes, Shane Hyde, Ethan Barnes, Ronnie Tucker and Dewayne Tucker. Honorary pallbearers will be David Tucker and Buddy Winstead.
