Simon Daniels, JR

Funeral services for Simon “June” Daniels, Jr age 72 of Columbia will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, October 8, 2016 from the sanctuary of Brownville Baptist Church with Dr. Rev. Anthony Nelson and Rev. James Hearns officiating the service. Burial will follow in the Brownville Cemetery under direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. Visitation will be on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Riser Funeral Home, Columbia from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Mr. Daniels was born on March 12, 1944 in Franklin, LA and passed from this life on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe following a hard fought and courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Daniels was preceded in death by his father, Simon “Mota” Daniels, Sr; by his mother, Rose Fontenett Daniels; two sisters: Rose Mary Burrell and Sandra Hurst, and all of his “Boo’s” of Columbia, LA. Simon was a member of the Brownville Baptist Church. He loved fishing and he spent many years operating and training others on the combine and other heavy equipment, planting and harvesting sugar cane in south Louisiana from an early age. His greatest achievement was when he gave his life to God and his love of people. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of sixteen years, Carolyn Stewart Daniels of Columbia; sons: Darryl Guilbeaux (Tanya) of Franklin, LA; Michael Guilbeaux (Katrice) of Houston, Texas; John Guilbeaux (Tracey) of Orange, Texas and Kerry Guilbeaux of New Iberia; daughters: Denis Coleman (Harry) of Franklin, LA and Jacqueline Mack (Albert) of Lafayette; two God-daughters: Orelia Brown of Atlanta, GA and D’yani Wiggins of Franklin, LA; sisters: Mary Ann Conley of Franklin, LA, Dorothy Gordon of Franklin, LA and Sarah Mitchell Rankins of Houston, Texas; and his grandchildren: Dijohn, Luriell, Darryl Jr and Amilah Guilbeaux of Houston, TX and Kenesha Scott of Franklin, LA, Jovante Artiste of Houston, TX, Garaile Artiste of Dallas, TX, and Kerone Daniels, Bernice Daniels, and Janell Daniels all of Franklin, LA, and a host of great-grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Family and friends. To all of my family your going down. Pallbearers will be Paul Roquemore, Kessler Stewart, Curtis Stewart, Sidney Mack, Robert Hurst, Jr., Derrick Miller, Roy Jackson and Terrence Dawson.
