Sidney Scribner

Funeral services for Mr. Sidney Scribner, age 84 of Grayson, will be held at 10 AM Thursday, August 11, 2011 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Bobby Rodrigue officiating. Interment will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery in Clarks. Mr. Scribner was born on February 28, 1927 in Clarks, LA and passed from this life on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 at Citizens Medical Center in Columbia. He served with the US Army during WWII, operated the Texaco service station in Grayson for 18 years. When he lived in California he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents: William and Ella Neely Scribner, wife; Julia Scribner, daughter; Dorothy Brown, three brothers and one sister. Survivors include his two daughters; Marilyn Whittington and husband, Gerald of Grayson and Linda Lowery and husband, James of Grayson, sister; Dorothy Nelson, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Ray Massey, Butch Hatten, Bryan Santos, Mitch Bratton, Connie Mack Exline and Glenn Belk.
