Shirley Jean Gough Nugent

Funeral services for Shirley Jean Gough Nugent age 80 of Grayson will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday October 7, 2020 from the sanctuary of Christians Sharing Christ Baptist Church in Clarks with Rev. Larry Adkins and Rev. Johnny Barnhill officiating. Interment will follow in the Welcome Home Cemetery at Grayson with services under direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia. Visitation will be on Tuesday October 6, 2020 at the church from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Mrs. Nugent was born on January 12, 1940 at Kelly, LA to the union of her parents Lecky Gough and Mattie Newsome Gough, and she passed from this life on Sunday October 4, 2020 at the Ochsner LSU Medical Center in Monroe following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents. Shirley loved taking care of her family and loved to cook. Other special loves in her life are her puppy “Tiny”, watching T V and going to church. Left to cherish a lifetime of memories is her husband and love of her life Laray Nugent; two sons: Ricky Rollins( Donna) and Troy Nugent (Jennifer); five daughters: Debra Hadley (Will), Melanie Rollins, Diane Lloyd (Jeff), Daila Volentine (Kurt) and Lisa Mixon; her brothers: Tom Gough (Sheila), Elton Stephens (Rory), Harold Stephens (Mary), Grady Stephens Jr (Glenda) and her sister: Jeannie Pearl Lewis and a host of grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind two special friends Annette Rayborn and Nancy Barnhill. Serving as pallbearers will be Justin Rollins, Jake Rollins, Holden Volentine, Hunter Volentine, Derrick Volentine, Josh Shelton, Jared Shelton and Tyler Mixon.
