Funeral services for Shelton "Shep" Moore, age 75 of Grayson, will be held at 2 PM Thursday, November 14, 2013 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, LA with Bro. Shane Duke officiating and Bro. Jerry Wayne Hendrixson delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow at Old Union Cemetery in Grayson, LA.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia from 5 PM until 9 PM.
Mr. Moore was born on February 6, 1938 in Jena, LA to the union of Ervine Odis Moore and Lillie Sanders Moore and went to be with his beloved Lord on Monday, November 11, 2013 at his residence. He worked as a firefighter with the LA Forestry Commission before retiring. He was a man that enjoyed buy, sell and trade deals and was often found at the "Columbia Wal-Mart" in front of the Caldwell Community Center. Shep had a strong faith and loved the Lord and his church family deeply. He taught Sunday school classes to the senior group at his church, Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He liked to keep his yard up, was a friend to anyone who met him and he would help anybody.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives: Willa Jean Sullivan Moore and Linda Faye Evans Moore; brother, Odis Moore; two sisters: Reecie King and Bobbie "Pete" Fatheree and daughter, Charlotte Gerald.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carolyn "Granny" Stephenson Moore; six daughters: Judy Lynn Moore Moreau (William), Connie Moore Diel (Tim), Selina Elizabeth Gerald, Shellie Renee Moore Roberts (Randy), Janet Dannelle Cagle (friend, Roy Bailey), Karen Gail Gerald Meredith (Shaun); six sisters: Vertie Short (John), Louise Franklin (James), Lola Bradford (Bobby), Sue Moore, Dottie Lutrick (Johnny) and Patsy Eichkelberger; fourteen grandchildren: Chris Brister, Justin Phillips, Brad Moreau, Kelly Moreau Lear, Dakota "Coco" Diel, Joshua Gerald Vining, Buck Wheeler, Jessi Wheeler, Casey Roberts Wiley, Erin Roberts, Jordan Cagle, Abi Stamper, Audrey Bamburg and Shooter Meredith; nine great-grandchildren; special "adopted" children: Brian Hayes, Laura Thompson and Leasa Thompson and special friend, Roy McMullen.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Lane Bradford, Raylend Bradford, Johnny Lutrick, Rick Moore, Mike Moore and Craig McMullen. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons.
