Funeral services for Shelia DeLane Franklin Coates, age 72, of Grayson, will held at 2:00 PM, Friday, May 20, 2016 at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Bro. Shane Duke officiating. Interment will follow at Old Union Cemetery west of Grayson. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the funeral home. Shelia was born November 4, 1943 to the union of Homer and Freddie Luttrick Franklin in Clarks and she passed from this life on May 17, 2016 at Citizens Medical Center in Columbia. She was a member of Cross Roads Church in Grayson. She loved music and computer games. She was preceded in death by her husband: Jackie Ray Coates; granddaughter: Heather Coates; mother: Freddie Luttrick Franklin; father: Homer Franklin; baby sister: Judy Kay Franklin; sister: Barbara McDaniel; brothers: Clark Franklin, H.C. Franklin, Thurman Franklin, and Damon “Dinky” Franklin; best friend: Carolyn Wyant. Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Clint Coates and his wife Vicky of Grayson; Darren Sikes of Pasadena, Texas, Stacy Coates and his wife Ashley of Grayson; daughter: Tracie Coates of Grayson; nephew she loved as a son: Randall “Hoopie” Thames and his wife Kim of Grayson; three grandsons: Troy Coates of Grayson; Brandon Coates of Columbia; Steven Coates of Hebert; one special great-granddaughter: Hailey Coates; two sisters: Dorcas Talbert and her husband Gary of Sikes;Connie Allen and her husband Kenneth of Illinois; very special friend Glen Grant. Pallbearers will be Dick Hitt, Steven Black, Ben Seward, Steely Smith, Tillman Sweet, Tim Hitt, and Jack Jordan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Troy Coates, Brandon Coates, Randall “Hoopie” Thames, and Steven Coates. The family would like to send a special thank you to Susie Kenworthy for coming to the house in the time of need and to Glen Grant for his support, love, and faithfulness.
