Mr. Savill S. Allen, the youngest child of Luesindia Yearby and Henry Allen, was born on July 26, 1926 in Rosefield, Louisiana.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to Alma Griffin in 1948. She preceded him in death. To this union one daughter, Barbara, was born.
Savill and Alma moved to Passaic, N.J. in 1952. He united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he was an active member until he moved back to Monroe, Louisiana in 1990.
On Monday evening, November 14, 2011 the Lord decided He needed another messenger to help with his task. He stood up, looked below and decided to make a stop in Columbia, Louisiana. He looked over the levee and stopped at 327 Fisher Road and decided to take Savill Allen back home with him.
Savill is survived by daughter, Barbara Allen Gibbs of Maplewood, New Jersey; two grandchildren, Aljean Lewis (Leslie Lewis) of Culpepepr, VA and Candyce Warnick (William Warnick) of Maplewood, New Jersey; two great-grandchildren, Asha Bronson and Chace Warnick and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Funeral services are under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia and will be held at 10 AM Saturday, November 26, 2011 at St. Paul Baptist Church with Pastor James L. Smith officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 AM until service time. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Craig Hebron, Willie Hebron, Aljean Lewis, William Warnick, Van Griffin, and Calvin V. Griffin.
