Sandra Kaye Gough Hester

Funeral services for Sandra Hester will be held 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Olla First Baptist Church with Bro. Dennis Baker officiating and Bro. Joe Lowe assisting, with interment following in Olla Cemetery under direction of Riser Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 5:00PM until 9:00PM at Olla First Baptist Church.

Sandra Kaye Gough Hester was born in Olla, La., on May 7, 1947 to the union of her parents, Bruce Gough and Elaine Nelson Gough and passed from this life February 18, 2024 at Oschners LSU in Shreveport, La. Sandra was a beloved mother, "Mim", sister, aunt, and friend. Her two children, Brett and Kristen were her pride and joy as well as her grandchildren. If you knew Sandra, you knew her family was everything. If there was a ballgame, or any type of event she was there. Sandra "Mim" enjoyed her daily car rides with Lainey and Cooper and the joy it brought to all of their hearts. Sandra was a educator for over thirty years. After she retired, she remained the "number one" sub for LaSalle High School. She always considered the faculty, staff, and students to be her extended family. Sandra's dedication to LHS was unmatched. She was more than just a teacher, she filled the role of mother, and grandmother for generations of students. She was a true lady who enjoyed getting her hair done, keeping in touch with her friends, playing Pokeno. She was always working even if it was in her yard. She was such a busy body that had a heart of gold and will be missed tremendously. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Brett Hester; and her brother-in-law, Sammy Elliott. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kristen Derr (Jacque); daughter-in-law, Brandy Hester; sister, Rhonda Elliott; grandchildren, Blake Hester, Bree Hester, Cole Derr, Sean Derr, Lainey Claire Derr, and Cooper Derr; niece, Brooke Winegart (Curt); great-nephew, Kade Bradford; as well as a host of family and friends.

Pallbearers will include Chris Barnhill, Joel Sims, Tim Wesson, Andrew Strong, Derek White, Corey Parham, Gary Nelson, and Bull Barnhill. Honorary pallbearers are Blake Hester, Kade Bradford, Cole Derr, and Sean Derr.
