Mrs. Garsee was born July 15, 1926 to the union of her parents D.A. and Lizzie Russell. She passed from this life on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Citizens Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents and the father of her children, Curtis Garsee. Ruth was a lifelong resident of Caldwell Parish. She is survived by her five children: Floyd Rainey Garsee, Rickey Dale Garsee, Marilyn Gale Garsee, Dennis Lane Garsee and Sylvia Laraine Garsee. She is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends. Her children had the following to say about their mother: She was a lover of the Lord and did her best to live for Him and worked to please Him with her life. She spent her life playing music and singing. That was a passion she enjoyed more than anything that we know of. She was in church every chance she could be, until she was no longer able to go. When you would go to see her, you could turn on the music and she would enjoy it with a passion like you have never seen, even singing along. It would light up her day! Some days you could go over to visit her and she would be sitting in her swing, playing her guitar or banjo all by herself, and we would join in with her. We would surely have some music ringing then! She so loved getting us all together, it was a pleasure next to Heaven. Bluegrass Gospel was her style of music. The Lord gave her almost 89 years to sit and play and enjoy life before he had need of her. Sometimes we would go over to see her and she would be in much pain and you would know things weren't so good with her, but endure, she did. But now it's over - no more pain, for the Lord has sent His Angel for her. Things are better for her now and she didn't have to cross Jordan alone, thanks to the Lord of Glory. Life will go on for us and she will be so much missed. I sure hope there is music in heaven, because she will surely feel right at home.
