ROLAND “ED” HARRIS OBITUARY

Roland Edward Harris, age 93, passed away on June 4, 2023 in Conway, Arkansas with his son Chris by his side.  Roland Edward Harris also known by friends and family as “Ed” and “Paw Paw”, was born on February 9, 1930 in Huntington, Texas.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday June 10, 2023 at the Olla Cemetery in Olla. Family and friends may begin to gather at 9:30 AM at the cemetery.

He was a lifelong resident of Olla, Louisiana where he met and married the woman of his dreams, Sophia Lorece David. They were happily married for 55 years, until her passing in 2004. 

Roland began his career in the oil fields off the coast of Louisiana. Upon leaving the oil fields, Ed and Lorece were business owners in Lasalle Parish, Louisiana, where they earned the respect and friendship of the community. 

He was a dedicated husband and father who never met a stranger and was a friend to all.  He always had a smile and warm greeting for those he met. Ed was always concerned for others before himself and was defined as, “A man who would give you the shirt off his back.”

He was a longtime member and Deacon of First Baptist Church of Olla.  Ed was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golf. 

Ed was quick witted and mischievous, keeping friends and family laughing and caregivers on their toes. He was deeply loved by many and will be greatly missed.
