Richard Roy Andrews, Sr.

Funeral services for Richard Roy Andrews, Sr., age 65 of Olla, LA ,will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 26, 2022, from the sanctuary of Life Church LaSalle in Jena, LA with Pastor Steve Cripps officiating. Ricky Andrews will deliver his father's eulogy. Interment will follow in the Olla Cemetery, Olla, LA under direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia. The Andrews Family will host visitation at the Life Church LaSalle on Tuesday, January 25, 2022, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again Wednesday from 10 AM until time of service.

Richard Roy Andrews, Sr. was born on October 20, 1956, at Jena, LA to the union of his parents, Louie Ray Andrews and Paula Jean Cupples Andrews, and he passed from this life on January 21, 2022, at the Christus Highland Medical Center in Shreveport. He was preceded in death by his father. Richard was a member of Life Church LaSalle. Everyone knew him by something different: Daddy, Pap, Park Ranger, Big Daddy, Big Country, or Pink, but everyone had one thing in common, they knew him as friend. Richard was a very simple man. It didn’t take a lot to make him happy. He was a loving husband to his wife, Melanie and an accomplished father of three great sons. He was a man of many talents, his greatest accomplishments were his three sons and his 8 grandchildren. When he wasn’t spending time with them, he was either fishing in the spring with his friends at Toledo Bend, Caney Lake, Lafouche, or Turkey Creek. During the winter months he spent them hunting between LaSalle and Winn Parish or taking a road trip for a deer hunt in Kansas. He loved to tinker in his shop on his classic truck or every other ongoing project that he had going at the time. He loved to spend his time outside and spent much time working in a big one acre garden so he could provide his friends and loved ones with vegetables. Another fun interest was traveling to every concert available within a 300 mile radius with his wife, Melanie. He was a one of a kind man and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish a lifetime of wonderful memories are his beloved wife, Melanie Gaspard Andrews of Olla; his three sons: Richard Roy “Ricky” Andrews, Jr. and wife, Natalie of Columbia, Daylan Andrews and wife, Mahaley of Olla, and Kevin Andrews and wife, Brittany of Olla; his beloved mother, Paula Jean Andrews Ratcliff of Jena; two brothers: Terry Ray Andrews and Bobby Andrews, both of Jena; his sister, Sherri Lynn Posey and husband, Chuck of Jena; eight grandchildren: Easton Andrews, Carson Andrews, Paxton Andrews, Annabelle Andrews, Clara Andrews, Lettie Rae Andrews, Daisy Lee Andrews and Conley James Andrews.
