Funeral services for Rev. Lee Roy Fuqua, age 80 of Columbia, will be 2 PM Tuesday, June 9, 2009 from the sanctuary of Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Olla with Rev. Donnie Boney and Bro. Robert Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson. Visitation will be Monday evening, June 8, 2009, at Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Olla from 5 PM to 9 PM then again Tuesday from 12:30 PM until time of service. Rev. Fuqua was born in Effie, LA on September 17, 1928 to the union of Calvin "CZ" and Mary Gremmit Fuqua and passed from this life on June 7, 2009 at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe. Bro. Fuqua has been a home missions pastor since 1956 building and maintaining many churches throughout the country. A few he ministered to include Denham Springs, LA, Houston, TX, Benndale, MS, Roswell, NM, Sicilly Island, LA and Columbia, LA. He held many offices with the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ including serving as secretary for the state of LA, Sunday School Superintendent, Superintendent of the Southwest Division including NM, TX and CO. He was a carpenter mostly self employed and worked some with a union. He used these skills in his service as a minister by always building, improving and remodeling his churches. Bro. Fuqua was a selfless person who thought of others before himself. He lived by his personal motto of "give God the Glory," as that was his desire in everything he did. He was a loving husband, a great father and a wonderful grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son; David Wayne Fuqua, two brothers; JD Fuqua and Eldridge Fuqua and sister; Helen Cassels. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Daisy Garrett Fuqua of Columbia, three sons; Jerry Fuqua of Grayson, Stanley Fuqua and wife, Laverne of Walker and Ben Fuqua and wife, Monica of Ackerman, MS, daughter; Janet Marie Fuqua Boyd of Big Springs, TX, four sisters; Lola Chambers, Faye Thornton and husband, Doc and Betty Ott all of Denham Springs and Mary Reagan of Jigger, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Greg Fuqua, David Williams, Patrick Wollerson, William Moore, Lisa Montoya and Michael Carney.
