Funeral services for Pirl Linton, age 76, of Clarks, will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Old Bethel Baptist Church in Clarks with Bro. Larry Adkins officiating.Chuck Stapleton will be giving the eulogy. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Riser Funeral in Columbia. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. Pirl was born December 28, 1934 to Conard and Arrie Bell Linton in Ruston and he passed from this life on September 7, 2011 at Leslie Lake Retirement Center in Arcadia. He was a wood contractor. He served his country in the United States Army. He restored old vehicles and he loved to deer hunt and squirrel hunt with his dogs. He loved drag racing and was a huge Saints and LSU fan. He was preceded in death by his parents; son: Calvin Linton; two sisters: Ruth Tharp and Jean Dunn; step father: George Harris. He is survived by his wife of 45 years; Mackie Linton; two sons: David M. McCoy "Beau" of South Haven, MS; Conard Linton and his wife Lynn of Grayson; three daughters: Elizabeth Ann Crawford and her husband Tony of Marksville; Mackie Denise Richardson and her husband Stuart of Calhoun; Tara Sue Linton of Clarks; two brothers: Carson Linton and Donnie Harris; three sisters: Connie Smith, Barbara Ferrington, and Hattie Strickland; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be David Earl Varnell, Bob McIlwain, Randy Black, Steely Smith, James Girod, and Ricky Hatten. Honorary Pallbearers will be Randy Hatten, nephews, and grandsons: David Crawford, Kirk Crawford, Mac McCoy, J.C. McCoy, Nick Crain, Lane and Trade Linton.
