Peggy Campbell Boyd was born on September 9, 1940, at Columbia, LA to the union of her parents, the late Charlie Wilson Campbell and Mona Lee Girod Campbell. She passed from this life on September 9, 2024, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe following an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her beloved husband, John Thomas Boyd; and her sister, Betty Jean Campbell.
Peggy was the best version of what a loving wife and mother should be. She always encouraged her children to go out and experience the world, whether that meant joining a sports team, playing in the band or traveling. She didn't want them to miss out an anything. She was always there to support them at every activity. When they were in high school she was a "band mom" and traveled to every game with kids and friends in tow. After becoming a grandmother she supported her grandchildren and great-grandchildren just as she did her children. She was a proud "ballpark Grandma", always there see every pitch, catch, and hit, and she also attended football games to watch the games, the cheering, and the dancing. Peggy was known as a fine Christian lady with the sweetest and most humble disposition. She was truly loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Melinda Ballard (Seburn), Diane May (Mark), Michael Thomas Boyd (Charlotte), Tammie Bates (Michael Joe), and Amanda McKenney (Paul); her grandchildren: Leanne Wallace (Scottie), Travis Ballard (Katie), Treena Jones (Jarrod), Lanee Cotten (Robert), Ashley Wallace (Jarrod), Mallory May, Dylan Boyd (Simmi), Seth Murray, Max Bates (Abigayle), Jacob McKenney, Caryn McKenney, and Ethan McKenney; great-grandchildren: Abbie Wallace, Jordan Jones, Addison Cotten, Hanna Cotten, Rylan Wallace, Presley Wallace, Avery Cotten, Jackson Wallace, Layton Boyd, Gunnar Boyd, Scarlett Boyd, Porter Wallace, Nolan Jones, Stella Ballard, and Freddie Jones; and her great-great-grandchild, Maddox Reitzell, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Boyd, Brandon Boyd, Joey Boyd, Jimmy Boyd, Severan Girod, and Paul Girod. Honorary pallbearers is Brannon McMullen.
