Pamela Shepherd

Pam Shepherd, 55, went home to be with the Lord on October 1, 2012. There will be a funeral service at Grayson Baptist Church on Friday, October 5, at 3:00 PM. Interment will be at Columbia Cemetery in Columbia, LA immediately following the service. Pam was born on June 25, 1957, in Jonesville, Louisiana to Jimmie and Thelma Shepherd. In 2001, Pam moved to Hebert, LA into her parents' home to assist them in caring for Rev. Jimmie Shepherd during the last days of his life. After her father passed away, Pam continued to call Hebert home and to provide love, friendship, and care for her mother, Thelma Shepherd, a retired teacher. Pam Shepherd's life was driven by three passions. First and foremost was serving her savior, Jesus Christ, in the local church. Although life was not always easy, Pam never got over being saved. Throughout the years, she taught Sunday School, chaperoned youth trips, sang alto in the choir, co-directed VBS, and as long as she and her mom were able, attended Grayson Baptist Church every time the doors were open. She instilled in her children, Nicole and Jeremy, a love for the Lord and the value of serving him. Pam was a passionate life-long educator. Having graduated from Forest High School 1975, Louisiana College in 1979, and later receiving her masters in School Administration, Pam understood value of a good education. The pursuit of this passion kept in the classroom for many years, first as a special education teacher and then later again for high school students. This pursuit led her to work at the Louisiana State Dept. of education and serve in school administration in Caldwell Parish Preschool, Grayson Elementary School, Tallulah Elementary School, and lastly Mangham High School where she was proud to wear the purple and white. Lastly, but not least, was her love for her family and friends. Pam was an incredibly selfless woman. The needs of her family and friends were her needs. She would go beyond was some would call "reasonable lengths" to help those she loved and even those she barely knew. It would be impossible to list the names of all of the lives she touched. There is no doubt that her witness as a follower of Christ will continue to have an impact in this life and throughout eternity. Pallbearers will be Cody Robison, Caleb Robison, Andy McBroom, David McBroom, Walter Nichols, Tim Sharplin, Will McCarty, and Herb Bassett. Honorary Pallbearer will be Tim Prince.
