Owen Smith

Services for Owen "Wimp" Smith, age 77 of Olla, will be 1 PM Monday, August 4, 2008 at the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Olla with Rev. Denver McBroom officiating. Interment will follow in Zion Hill Cemetery in Olla. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 6 PM to 9 PM at the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Olla and again Monday morning 9 AM until service time. Mr. Smith was born on April 17, 1931 in Hinton, LA to the union of Ethan Andrew and Lucie Mills Smith and passed away Sunday, August 3, 2008 at his residence. He was a logger then later in his career became a truck driver. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Leona Maxine Ford Smith of Olla, his son, Ronald Glen Smith of Olla, his daughter, Wanda Gail Wages of Olla, his brother, Coy Smith and his wife, Bobbie of Urania, his sister, Cleo Ussery and her husband, Peter Edward "Junior" of Georgetown, his grandson, Jonathan Craig Jacobs and five step grandchildren. Pallbearers are Denny Boyette, Steve Vickers, Roy Smith, Eddie Coolman, Gary Taylor, Bobby Bradford and Olan Coolman.
