Funeral services for Ollie Faye May Wheat age 87, will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at the Chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, LA, with Rev. Larry Adkins officiating and Bro. Shane Duke assisting. Interment will follow at Hickory Springs Cemetery in Cottonplant. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Riser Funeral Home.
Ollie "Faye" May was born in Monroe, Louisiana on February 18, 1935, to the union of her parents, Algia Barnett, and Dottie Mae Moore Barnett and passed from this life November 13, 2022, at Haven Nursing Home in Columbia. Faye enjoyed watching the hummingbirds, reading, watching westerns, gardening, and being bossy. She loved warm cornbread with cold buttermilk, vanilla milkshakes, and any dessert loaded with sugar. Faye was a one of a kind who loved her family, and was always making them laugh. Even though the girls say she treated the men better than them, they'll always have something to laugh about. They will miss the funny things she would call them, the phone conversations where she would hang up when she was done, and the love she always gave them. Faye was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George May; sisters, Evelyn McNeil, Susan Hollis; son-in-laws, Jimmy Warren, Russell Coates, Lynn Finley; grandson, Derek Coates; and great-grandson, Jarred McGuffee JR.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Algia May (Darlene), Sherry Coates, Marilyn Warren (Gary), Martha May Doucette (Paul), and Cindy Burch (Wesley); granchildren, Shelly Jordan (Chad), Chris May (Whitney), Daniel May (Kristi), Debbie Gonzales (Mark), Melissa Gobert (Jeramie), Tyler Warren, Sara Warren (David), Jarred McGuffee (Katie), and Gavin Burch; great-grandchildren, Colter Rushing, Blaze Wiggins (Cody), Wyatt Jordan (Sydnie), Landon May, Reagan May, Allie May, Addison May, Shelbi Gonzales, Allison Gonzales, Aislinn Gonzales, Kaden Gobert, Logan Gobert, Madison Gobert, XJ Price, William Price, and Teagan McGuffee; great-great-grandchild, Kodi Blaire Wiggins; two brothers, and a sister: Leo Barnett, David Barnett, and Paula Hogan.
Pallearers include Wesley Burch, Gavin Burch, Chris May, Daniel May, Mark Gonzales, Paul Doucette, Tyler Warren, and Jarred McGuffee. Honorary Pallbearers are Gary Lisenby,Landon May, Colter Rushing, Chad Jordan, Cody Wiggins, and Jeramie Gobert.
