Funeral services for Mr. Neal W. Gorman, 63 of Tullos, will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 12, 2009 from the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Urania with Rev. John Holdiness , Rev. Bo Prather and Rev. Brian Rankin officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Olla. Visitation will be at the church from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM Friday, September 11, 2009, and Saturday from 8:00 AM until time of services at the church. Mr. Gorman was born on June 7, 1946, to the union of Clifton Wade Gorman and Carmon Lucille Neal Gorman in Urania and passed from this life on Monday, September 7, 2009 in Texas. He was a crane operator working on Ensco Rig 89. Mr. Gorman first started in the oilfield with Penrod in 1969 and years later Ensco bought Penrod and Neal stayed with them his entire oilfield career. Neal's favorite actor was John Wayne, and his favorite movie, Hellfighters, was watched by him at least once everytime he was home from the rig. His life was the oilfield, God, Family, and work was his world ; he loved to fish with his friends. He also loved to grill, cook, and eat; he especially enjoyed eating his wife Edna's cooking very much. He loved his family and his friends from offshore and his grandkids were his heart. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Mrs. Edna Hudson Gorman of Tullos; Son, Jeffery Gorman and wife Laura of The Woodlands, TX; Daughters, Carmon Gorman Cook and husband Beau of Tullos/Pineville, LA; Lena Louella Gorman Weiting of Lafayette.; Sister, Melba Jean White of Monroe.; 3 grandchildren: Stetson Bosecker, Mariah Winegeart, and Brandon Cook. Pallbearers will be Chad McCartney, Monty Atkins, Dougie Murphrey, Mark, Mike Nowlin, Mark Odom & Danny Odom. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joey Gatewood, Jeff Guidry, Charles Miles, Art Nelson and Jim Arbogast.
