Funeral services for Nadine (Denison) Proffer age 59 of Grayson will be held 2pm Tuesday Dec.15 from the Columbia chapel of Riser Funeral Home with Rev. Maxwell Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in the Chickasaw Cemetery east of Olla. The Proffer family will receive visitors on Monday evening from 4pm to 9pm , and on Tuesday from 9am until time of service at the funeral home. Nadine Denison was born on July 25, 1950 at Monroe, LA to the union of her parents George Hamity Denison, Jr. and Myrtle Patton Denison. She passed from this life on December 13, 2009 at the Haven Nursing Center following an extended illness. Born to very humble beginnings Nadine worked hard from an early age to give back to her parents, in return for the love that was given and shown to her. George Jr., her father, died young and the family was left with just their mom Myrtle, who did what she could to support her family. Myrtle eventually re-married Odis Tarver who played a major role in the life of Nadine and the lives of her sibling's. Nadine began her formal education in the medical field at the St. Marys Training School at Clarks, and eventually became a Ward Secretary working at numerous hospitals throughout the north central Louisiana area. She was known for the caring and devotion she gave to each of her patients. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, husband: Charles Proffer, two sisters: Blanche Phillips and Maxine Grant, and a brother: Bernard Denison. Survivors include: In Nadine's word's: An excellent special friend and angel and the love of her life: Glen Grant, of Grayson. Daughter: Brenda Kay Ryan , Independence, Ky , Two grand-daughters: Kaitlyn Ryan and Courtney Ryan , both of Independence, Ky. Brother: Jimmy Denison and his wife Debbie of Kelly, Sister: Vera Peppers, of Kelly, and a host of niece's and nephew's , and other extended family member's. Pallbearers include: Her nephew's - Heath Denison, Jeff Denison, Ray Braddock, Ricky Grant, Elvis Phillips, and Eddie Westbrooks.
