Melvin Braddock

Funeral services for Mr. Melvin Vernie Braddock age 80 of Columbia will be held 2pm Monday March 21, 2011 from the Columbia chapel of Riser Funeral Home with Bishop Ron Brown officiating. Interment with full military honors will conclude at the Welcome Home Cemetery at Grayson. The Braddock Family will receive guests on Sunday evening from 4 to 9pm at the funeral home located at 7131 U S Highway 165 in Columbia. Melvin Vernie Braddock was born on December 27, 1930 at Riverton, LA to the union of Vernie Edward Braddock and Viola Fisher Braddock. He passed from this life on Friday March 18, 2011 at the Haven Nursing Center in Columbia following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother. Mr. Braddock was a United States Army Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict with rank as Staff Sergeant. He was a retired locksmith with the Monroe City School System. Melvin was also a Shriner. Surviving him and left to cherish his memory: His beloved wife: Grace A. Braddock of Columbia. One daughter: Mrs. Yvonne Ross of Columbia, and one son: Melvin Daniel Braddock of Columbia. He also leaves three brothers: His twin: Elvin Edward Braddock of Rocky Branch, Dewey Braddock of Columbia, and Ruben Azar Braddock of Dallas, Texas. Two grandchildren: Michael Shayne Ross and Daidre Lynn Boulton, both of Columbia. Four great- grandchildren: Jacob Ross, Alyssa Boulton, Joshua Boulton, and Ethan Ross. Pallbearers include: Gary Braddock, Danny Braddock, Shane Ross, Dale McKinley, Kevin McKinley, Jeremy Kent, Jacob Ross, and Roy Dale McKinley. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be: Joshua Boulton.
