Mattie Eran Weeks

Graveside funeral services for Mattie Eran Weeks, age 97, will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Cross Roads Cemetery, Grayson, LA with Bro. Frank Wood officiating. Face masks are required for attendance and social distancing guidelines will be strictly adhered to during the service. Mattie Eran Weeks was born September 10, 1923 in Caldwell Parish to the union of her parents, Thomas Wade Parker and Arcallia Hester Parker, and she went to her heavenly home January 3, 2021 at Ridgecrest Community Care Center in West Monroe, LA. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Grayson. Mrs. Weeks had a joy for life and she spread that joy to all she met. She worked hard growing crops, planting a bountiful garden with vegetables and flowers, and raising her children. Even as the years of her life increased, her mind was sharp and she enjoyed sharing stories from the past with her family. She loved her family dearly and she will be greatly missed by them. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Marvin Weeks; brother, Thomas "Pete" Parker; sister, Louise Nelson; son, Tony Weeks; and grandson, Steven Carroll Weeks. Those left to cherish her memory include her sons: Marvin Carroll Weeks (Doris), John Weeks (Elizabeth "Sis"), and Paul Weeks; daughters: Jeanne Fell (Jim) and Deanne Bingham (Cliff); brother, Jerry Parker; sister, Viola McManus; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; her close friend, Glenda May and her church family. Serving as pallbearers will be Anthony Weeks, Pistol Weeks, Chad Lee, Piper Barton, Hayden Lee, and Ian Michael Lee. Honorary pallbearers are Timothy Weeks, Gil Lovelady, Terry Lovelady, Luke Weeks, Corey Arrington, Josh Arrington, Kaleb Carr and Wayne Pierce. The family is especially thankful to Doris Weeks for the love and compassion she showed to Mrs. Weeks. She spent many hours with her during those final days and was holding her hand when she passed away.
