Mattie Stephens

Funeral services for Mattie LaVessa Stephens, 92, of Columbia, will be held at 2 PM Friday, July 22, 2010, at the Christian Sharing Christ Baptist Church in Clarks with Rev. Larry Adkins officiating. Interment will follow at Adams Cemetery in Kelly. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-9 PM at the church. Services are under the direction of Riser Funeral Home of Columbia. Mattie was born June 28, 1919 to Dempsey and Ruby Sullivan Newsome in Columbia and she passed from this life on July 18, 20011 at Citizens Medical Center in Columbia. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Grady Williams Stephens; husband: Lecky Gough. She was member of the Christian Sharing Christ Baptist Church in Clarks. She is survived by two sons: Tom Gough and his wife Sheila of Pine Prairie, LA; Elton Stephens and his wife Roxie of West Monroe; daughter: Shirley Nugent and her husband Ray of Holum; two step-sons: Harold Stephens and his wife Mary of Wisner; Grady Stephens, Jr. and his wife Glenda of Gilbert; step-daughter: Jennie Pearl Lewis and her husband Gene of Natchez; sister: Bobbie Hudson and her husband Chuck of Haughton, LA; numerous grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Ricky Rollins, Troy Nugent, Robin Gough, Lecky Gough, Aaron Gough, Brian Stephens, Corey Jones, and Michael Jones.
