Mary Louise (Sissy) Cornwell Long

Mary (Sissy) Louise Cornwell Long departed from this life to her Heavenly home, Friday, March 18, 2022, at the age of 86. She was born February 29, 1936, to the union of Pauline LaCaze Cornwell and Quincy Earl Cornwell. Sissy (Grandma) was preceded in death by her parents, Pauline and Quincy Cornwell, sister, Virginia Callahan (Algie), and brother, Paul Cornwell (Bettye).

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of sixty-five years, Earl K. Long; sister, Betty Hollenshead (Feldor); daughter, Theresa Long Roark (Mickey); sons, Howard Scott Long and Shannon Walker Long; grandsons, Judd Roark (Jill) and Reece Roark (Hannah); granddaughters: Lyndi Taylor (Colby), Kim Statham (Jason), Penny Mickle (Justin), and Joni Long; great-grandchildren: Colton and Ellie Taylor, Haddon and Lee Roark, Harper Roark, Gage and Clayton Statham, Adrian Wyant, Paisley Long and Larissa Mickle.

Sissy loved her church family at Outreach Baptist Church in Columbia, LA. She served her community as a teacher in Caldwell and LaSalle Parishes for twenty-five years. She enjoyed mowing and doing yardwork. She attended many ballgames, either following her husband, Coach Long or watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren participate. Her pride and joy was her family. Her life was exemplified by her service to her husband and others.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, March 21, 2022, from the sanctuary of Outreach Baptist Church with Pastor C.R. Martin and Bro. Keith Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Olla Cemetery at Olla with services under direction of Riser & Son Funeral Home of Columbia.

The Long Family will host visitation at the Outreach Baptist Church, located at 7012 Highway 4 West, Columbia on Sunday evening, March 20, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.

Serving as pallbearers will be Judd Roark, Reece Roark, Mickey Roark, Mike Long, Kent Roark, Colby Taylor, Steve Long and Todd Long. Honorary pallbearers include Mike Duke, Jeffery Lasiter, Mark Bradshaw, Greg Black, Mark London, Tony Cornwell, Terry Thorn, LaVaughn Tisdal and Kirky Walters.

The Long Family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Long's caregivers. They are Dianna Craft, Shannon Jewitt, Dana Tillman, Kenya Morris, Delores Holmes and Tasha Powell, These caregivers gave so much of themselves to make (Sissy's) last weeks more comfortable and filled those days with compassion and love. We will never forget you.
