Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Dark, age 85, was born June 25, 1935 in Houma, Louisiana to the union of her parents, Warwick G. Debnam and Gertrude Gaudet Debnam, and she passed from this life March 12, 2021 at her home in Columbia, Louisiana. Beth worked for many years with the office of Social Security as a claims representative. After retirement, she focused her time and energy on taking care of her family. She loved spending time with them but she especially doted on her great-granddaughter, Hadleigh Elizabeth. She enjoyed feeding and watching hummingbirds and in later years was entertained by playing games on her computer. She was loved greatly by her family and will be sorely missed. Beth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald W. Dark; brother, Donald Debnam; and sister, Sue Griffin Johnson.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Kay Beckley and Jeri Lynn Newsom (Michael); sisters: Kathleen Debnam Jones and Peggy Debnam Remedes; grandchildren: Jennie Gray (Zack) and Cole Beckley (Christin); her beloved great-granddaughter, Hadleigh Elizabeth Beckley; niece, Solina Simmons; great-nieces: Socorro Juneau and Jayden Juneau; and her special friend, Vincent Danna.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 19, 2021 at Sandy Bayou Cemetery, 3380 Hwy 559, Columbia, LA 71418.
