Martha Elmendorf

Martha Seay Elmendorf (65) left for her eternal rest on Thursday, June 6, 2013 while staying at the Sharon S Richardson Community Hospice Center in Sheboygan Falls, WI. Martha had been courageously fighting cancer and other ailments. Martha is survived by her two sons and their wives Ralph W and Lana Seay in West Monroe, LA and John L and Nichole Elmendorf in Kohler, WI. Her grandchildren are Mark Joiner, Wade Seay, Dustin, Kolten and Kamron Hudson, Ashton, Peyton and Makenna Elmendorf. Her remaining siblings are Carolyn Coon, Verdell Coie and Harry Seay. Martha was preceded in Death by her siblings, Ardell Seay, Doris Taylor, Sam Seay and Bobby Seay and her Parents, Wade Seay and Mattie Kilby Seay. She was also preceded by her loving dogs Priscilla and Bouncer. Martha had recently retired from LSUMC-Monroe where she had served as Administrative Assistant for 25 years. Martha had the opportunity to assist many new physicians and nurses in starting their health care careers through residencies and internships. Martha loved her role and the people she worked with at EA Conway Memorial Hospital, what is now LSUMC-Monroe. There was never a surprise to see Martha dressed up as a clown, witch or Santa's Helper and delivering snacks or treats to employees and patients alike. She would even drop by her children's school afterward to deliver treats to all the kids. Martha was truly loved by all and gave of herself without asking for anything in return. She treated each of her nieces and nephews as her own children and was always there for birthdays, weddings and gatherings. No one met Martha and left a stranger. No one knew Martha, that was not truly touched by her kindness and her giving nature. Funeral services are arranged at Riser Funeral Home on Highway 165 in Columbia, LA. Visitation is from 12-2 with a service at 2:00pm on Thursday June 13, 2013. Martha had asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Sharon S Richardson Community Hospice Center in Sheboygan Falls, WI.
