Funeral services for Marie Gregory Haddox will be held at 11 AM Friday, April 19, 2013 from the sanctuary of Columbia Heights Baptist Church with Bro. Bruce McGee officiating and Bro. Julius Russell conducting the music. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson, LA.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 18, 2013 from 5 PM to 8 PM at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, LA. Then again Friday morning at Columbia Heights Baptist Church from 9 AM until time of service.
Mrs. Marie Gregory Haddox joined her Lord and Savior on April 14th following a brief illness. Mrs. Haddox was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Mr. Eligah Robert Haddox. Her siblings Belton Gregory, Ben Gregory, Audrey Gregory, Lozell Rozema, Loice McCarty, Clayton Gregory and Elton Gregory also preceded her in death. She is survived by one sister, Opal McAlpin of Clemson, S.C. Mrs. Haddox was the daughter of the late G.W. Gregory and the late Carrie Myers Gregory. She was 95 years of age at the time of her death.
Mrs. Haddox was an active member and resident of Columbia, LA. She was a charter member of the Columbia Heights Baptist Church, a member of the Top of the Hill Club and a member of The Woodman of the World. Mrs. Haddox took great pride in the care of her beautifully landscaped yard and could be found working endless hours among her many beautiful flowers. She was a founding member of the Garden Club of Columbia and was often asked to arrange flowers for weddings, baby showers and other special occasions. Mrs. Haddox was also a talented seamstress and made countless dresses for her three granddaughters.
Mrs. Haddox is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Janice Haddox of Benton, Arkansas. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Jennifer Haddox Sisson (Clay) of Collierville, TN, Amber Haddox Lyons of Benton, AR, and Carrie Haddox Bloomquist (Eric) of Benton, AR. Mrs. Haddox also leaves six great-grandsons, Jake and Eli Sisson, Austin Dyer, Brayden Lyons and Carter and Gibson Bloomquist. Also, survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
