Funeral services for Marcus Wayne Norrell, Sr. will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, with Rev. Sherman Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Etier Cemetery, Hebert. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 12:00 noon until time of service at 2:00.
Marcus was born June 3, 1972, in Columbia, LA to the union of his parents, Earnest Norrell and Deborah Duchesne Norrell, and passed from this life November 1, 2023, in a tragic accident. Marcus lived life to the fullest and loved being outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and digging for arrowheads. He was a jack-of-all-trades and could do anything he set his mind to do. He was a very talented carpenter and enjoyed woodworking, especially making bows and arrows. Marcus was preceded in death by his father; his aunt, Dawn Duchesne; his maternal grandmother, Berthalene Duchesne; and paternal grandmother, Pauline Vance.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Debbie Norrell; sons: Marcus Wayne "Sonny" Norrell Jr, (Claire), Jacob Norrell, Tucker Norrell; daughter, Noelle May; brother, Bradley Norrell (Julie); sister, Dianna Stapleton (Jimmy); grandchildren: Bruin Norrell, Dakoda DeMoss, Waylon DeMoss, Elleanora DeMoss; nieces and nephews: Ryan Stapleton, Kelsey Stapleton, Anne-Marie Norrell, Braylei Norrell; and a special friend, Angel White.
Pallbearers include John Hall, Dalton Denison, Kurt Lott, Jacob Norrell, Bradley Norrell, and Sonny Norrell. Honorary pallbearers are Clayton Spires, Jimmy Stapleton, Ryan Stapleton, and Brian Perot.
