Luther Floyd Holloway

On September 27, 2023  Luther passed from this life at the age of 79.He was born on June 22, 1944 in Harrisonburg, LA to the union of Ora Floyd Holloway and Laura Henderson Holloway. He attended Enterprise High School. Luther received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Louisiana Tech  in Ruston, LA in 1966 in Wildlife Management. He attended Oklahoma State University  in Stillwater, Oklahoma  majoring in Zoology in 1966- 1967. He received  a Masters of Science  in Fisheries Biology from LSU in Baton Rouge, LA in 1969. He earned his PHD in Plant Pathology from LSU in Baton Rouge in 1971.

Luther was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Beverly Ready, Dean Garner and Diana Torrey. He is survived by his wife of fifty nine years, Nelda Korn Holloway of Harrisonburg, LA and siblings Teany Mason (Sam) of Harrisonburg, Hawk Holloway (Linda) of Harrisonburg,  Olivia Vidrine (Gerald) of Brusley, LA and Theresa Ashley (Danny) of Winnsboro, LA and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by special friends Susan Woodard Kelly of Raleigh, N C,  and Mary Bess Woodard Pannel of Indianola, MS and his special cat Bobbie Sue.

Luther was a strong advocate of education and mentored and encouraged many young people in school. He was a great story teller and geneologist in his family lineage. Luther was an environmental consultant running his consulting firm, Holloway Environmental Services in Harrisonburg, LA from 1974 to the present. He was a man of strong character and deep conservative values. He will also be missed for his compassion, humor, big heart and generosity.
