Lois Steely Richardson, 92, of Grayson, LA, entered the gates of Heaven on October 7, 2021, while at Hardtner Medical Center with her children by her side, following a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at Old Bethel Baptist Church on October 10, 2021 at 11:00 am with Rev. Todd Whittington officiating, Blair Boles will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow at Old Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Old Bethel Baptist Church on October 9th from 5-8 PM. Riser Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements.
Lois was born in Clarks, LA to E.M. and Jewel Steely on June 22, 1929. She attended and graduated from Clarks High School in 1944. Afterwards, she attended Northwestern State Normal College where she graduated in 1946 with an associate degree in secretarial sciences. She married Curtis Richardson on June 13, 1952 while he was serving in the Air Force stationed in Biloxi, MS. After his discharge from the Air Force, they moved and set up residency in Kelly, LA then moved to Olla, LA in 1965. Lois worked at Caldwell Bank in Columbia, LA for several years before moving to the Olla State Bank and then Bank of Jena in Olla where she worked until she retired.
Lois, aka, Granny (Waffles) and Gigi, loved her family and loved keeping grandkids. When the grandkids were young she would keep them, all 7, every Friday night. She loved the holidays especially Christmas and Easter. She was a Christian who read her bible every day. She was a member of Olla First Baptist Church for several years before moving her membership to Old Bethel Baptist Church in 2011, when they moved to Pistol Thicket.
Granny loved people, she always talked about how she loved her job and meeting the public. Most of all she loved her husband, Curtis, they were side by side for 65 years enjoying life together. You could always find them watching LSU football games or any baseball game on T.V. when you stopped by. In the earlier years, you could find them at any event the grandchildren or great grandchildren were involved in. She enjoyed her sewing having made special Easter baskets for all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as several Easter dresses. She was loved and adored by everyone who knew her.
Lois is survived by her son, Steven Curtis Richardson and wife Sheryl; son, Mark Lynn Richardson and wife Lori; daughter, Lori Richardson McCarty and husband Herman;
granddaughter, Erin Masters and husband Clint; grandson, Ryan Richardson; granddaughter, Hailey McDaniel and husband Chad; granddaughter, Lacey Randall and husband John Paul; grandson, Sean Richardson and wife Sarah; granddaughter, Mallory Smith and husband Lynn; granddaughter, Blair Boles and husband Jacob; granddaughter, Chelsea Smith and husband Daniel; and nineteen great-grandkids.
Also surviving her is sister, Wanda Smith; niece, Sue Huth and husband Richard; niece, Dana Harveston; nephew, Steely Smith; and great nephew, Nathan Huth and wife Mary Beth; great nieces, Britney, Neely and Maurly Smith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Clarence Richardson; parents, Ernest and Jewel Steely; her brother, J.E. Steely; her sister, Donna Steely; father and mother-in-law, Clarence and Ethel Richardson; brother-in-law, James M. Smith; sister-in-law, Frances Childers; brother-in-law, William T. Childers; and grandson, Jarred Taylor.
Pallbearers are Ryan Richardson, Sean Richardson, Clint Masters, Chad McDaniel, John Paul Randall, Lynn Smith, Jacob Boles, and Daniel Smith.
