Funeral services for Linda Yvonne McClanahan will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, March 26, 2022, from the sanctuary of Bethany Baptist Church, Hebert, LA with Bro. Marvin Tabora officiating and with Sister Kristy Dunn and John Godwin assisting. Interment will follow at Bethany Cemetery, Hebert under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home, Columbia. The visitation for family and friends will be held at the church on Friday, March 25, 2022, from 5 PM until 8 PM.
Linda Godwin Evans McClanahan was born in Columbia, LA on April 14, 1947 to the union of her parents, James Albert Godwin and Flora Bernice Williams Godwin, and she passed form this life on March 24, 2022 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe after a short illness. Linda was a member of Hebert Full Gospel Church where whe was very faithful and commited to her church family. She worked with the children's church ministry, often made the church bulletins, went on mission trips to Honduras, helped decorate and arranged flowers for special events and holidays, and the list goes on. She was a worker and would jump in to help with whatever needed doing. Her life-long dream was fulfilled when she was able to be baptized in the Jordan River wile traveling in Israel. Linda was a "Jill-of-all-Trades" having been a beautician, a longhaul truck driver, an aide in special education classrooms, a seamstress, and a state champion in bowling. She especially loved to sew and clothed her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with beautifully handmade clothing. She had a flair for decorating things, which her family lovingly referred to as "Lindarising." She loved her family dearly. She devoted her life to raising her special needs son, Dallas Evans, until he passed away. She loved helping her daughter, Penny with health fairs at work. She always enjoyed girl-time with her sisters. They often shopped, went to rummage sales, and traveled together. Linda had a beautiful smile that was contagious for those around her. She was a tough lady who lived through a lot of hardship and heartache but she was very resilient. She was generous and giving, always putting others first. She will truly be missed.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents: Carl and Edna Williams, two husbands, Richard Evans and Isaac "Ike" McClanahan; her oldest child, Thomas "Tommy" William Bamburg; her youngest child, Dallas Wayne Evans; step-daughter, Sheila McDonald; and step-son, Robin McClanahan.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Penny Williams (Dave); sisters: Norma Jean Harris (Haskell) and Janie Harris (Ricky); brother, John Godwin (Paula); sister by choice, Amy Stamper (Johnny); step-sons: Ricky Evans, Billy Lane McClanahan, Blaine Cobb (Rose Marie), and Dave Cobb (Glenda); step-daughter, Shirley Faye Hall (Bill); grandchildren: Evan Wilson (Jackie), Ciarra Morrow (Nathan), Melissa Duey-Mapp, and David Norris; great-grandchildren: E. J. Wilson, Jordyn Wilson, Victoria Morrow, Aryanna Morrow, Baby Ezra Morrow on the way, Alexas Mapp, Tristen Mapp, and MaKayla Mapp; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dave Cobb, Shannon Franklin, Nathan Morrow, David Mills, David Trichell, and Gene Temple.
