Leiber Joseph Rachal

Funeral services for Leiber Joseph “Joe” Rachal Jr., will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 10, 2021, at the United Methodist Church in Olla, LA with Bro. Aaron Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow at Olla Cemetery under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home. Visitation is Tuesday, November 9, 2021, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the church.

Joe was born April 25, 1938, in Cloutierville, LA, to the union of his parents, Lieber Rachal Sr. and Rosa Delrie Rachal, and he passed from this life on November 7, 2021, at Rapides Regional Medical Center. Joe proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy. He worked in the oil field for Chevron for 34 years with 10 of those being in Nigeria, before retiring. Joe loved his family and was a very straight forward man. He loved to fish and hunt. Joe served on the town council of the little town he loved and called home. He was a pillar of the community who loved working with children who came through the Centennial Cultural Center, as well as the ones he umpired on the baseball and softball fields. Joe was honored with the Angel Award from Blue Cross Blue Shield for his work with the children. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dewayne Rachal.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years, Joan Davis Rachal, a son Mark Rachal (Dianne) of Shreveport, a daughter Lori Wells (Randy) of Olla, brothers: Gene Rachal (Mary Lynn) and Kenny Rachal (Pam), his grandchildren: Lauren Sant (Daniel), Kathryn Woodruff (Dennis), Chris Rachal, Ethan Wells (Stephanie), great-grandchildren: Ian, Hazel, and Scarlet Woodruff, Colin and Camille Sant, Alex and Austin Richmond, and Jesse and Raelynn Wells.

Pallbearers will be Ethan Wells, Chris Rachal, Mark Bailey, Daniel Sant, Gerald Williams, and Dennis Woodruff. Honorary pallbearer is Joey Whitehead.
