Leeman was born to Andrew and Lena Stamper on July 7, 1945. He went home to sing with the Lord on June 16, 2012 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. Leeman was preceded in death by his parents and his sister and brother-in-law Huey and Merlene Stamper Garcin.
Leeman, was a true man of God, he had devoted his life to serving the Lord and witnessing to the lost. Leeman was a teacher for many years, and then retired from Texas Gas Corp. Leeman's true passions were in music and singing for the Lord, and riding and training cutting horses.
Leeman is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years Barbara Page Stamper, his son Michael Stamper, and his twin brother Freeman Stamper. Brother and Sister in laws Buddy and Carolyn Page, Mary Alice and Walter Caraway, and Pat and Ron Wyant and families. Extended family, Brian, Carmen, and Eli Head, Jerry and Amanda Meredith, Brad and Nan Mount. He is also survived by a host of close friends that Leeman made feel special in his own way to each one of them.
Funeral services for Leeman will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday June 19, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Columbia with Bro. Eric Harriman, Bro. Michael Whitman, and Bro. Bobby McGuire officiating. Interment will follow at the Columbia Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Riser Funeral Home in Columbia.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Parker, Sid Varnell, Randy Coleman, Gene Hood, Mark Coie, Gerald Alexander, Tom Calloway, and Obie Kavanaugh.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Mark Parker, Eddie Dunn, Jr., Maurice Tynes, Buster Whittington, Courtney Dunn, Mark McKee, Buddy Gill, Richard Morgan, Doyle Jinks, Alton Chapman, Jerry Salley, Frog Crain, and all Texas Gas Employees and retirees.
