A memorial service for Kirby Allen, age 90 of Clarks will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, June 27, 2014 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Shane Duke officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 2:00 PM until time of service at the funeral home.
Kirby Allen was born on February 20, 1924 at Clarks, LA and passed from this life on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Allen served in the United States Navy during World War II freely giving of himself to his country, as so many men did at that time; and after service came back to Clarks where he began to work with the United States Postal Service, eventually becoming Postmaster of Clarks. He was a lifelong resident of Caldwell Parish and raised a large family here in the parish. Kirby was extremely accommodating to any and everyone he served or came in contact with whether it was as postmaster or serving with the Clarks Volunteer Fire Department. He loved to serve those around him.
Survivors include his wife, Dona O. Allen of Clarks; six sons: Jim Bill Allen, Eugene Allen, Robert Allen, Terry Joe Allen, Chris Allen, and Kirby "Buddy" Allen, Jr.; four daughters: Ruby Carnahan, Beth Ann Eden, Sonya Morgan, and Teri Medley; his sister: Betty Young, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also leaves his beloved dog, Molly.
