Katherine Mae Nelson Oliveaux

Katherine Mae "Sis" Nelson Oliveaux was born on February 7, 1937 at Hebert, Louisiana to the union of her beloved parents Earnest Newton Nelson and Clifton Maxine Barton Nelson Hunt. She passed from this life suddenly at her residence in Hebert on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 24, 2022, following a brief illness. Katherine was a Beautician that owned her own Beauty shop for many years. Besides her love of family, fishing was a constant in her life. She had been known to leave for the river at dawn and not return until sundown. She always brightened up any room she went into. Her loving and caring demeanor will never ever be forgotten but will be forever missed by family and friends alike. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Jackson Nelson and Floyd Nelson, great grandchild Emma Stamper, great-great grandchild Asher Perry and son-in-law James Weems.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband James "Jim" Oliveaux of sixty seven years, her sister, Rosie Newsom, her brother, Clifford Nelson, her son, James Oliveaux (Eve); her daughters, Patricia Woodard (Gary) and Cheryl Weems; her beloved grandchildren, Amy Tatum (Brad) and their children Hannah, Haley and Gracie; April Veuleman and children, Andrew and Anna; Dundy Patton (Jody); Dustin Oliveaux (Kimberly) and child Ella; Gary Duane Woodward (Kimberly) and children Duane, Madison, and Emily; Christina Thorton (Matthew) and children Matthew, Dillon, Jessa and Josie; Patty Woodward and children Kadence, Tori and Anna; Maranda Weems (Luis) and children Marina, Karina and Kate; Krista Drummond (Philip) and a host of great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 3, 2022 at the Riser & Son Funeral Home Chapel in Columbia at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning for friends at 9:00 AM at the funeral home.  Interment will follow in the Etier Cemetery at Hebert.

Serving as pallbearers will be Madison Woodward, Gary Duane Woodward, Matthew Thorton, Kadence Stamper, Andrew Sevier, Dillon Thorton and Philip Drummond.
