Funeral services for Timmy Lynn Cox, Jr., age 18 of Grayson, will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 17, 2015 from the sanctuary of the Apostolic Truth Tabernacle Church in Grayson with Rev. Sherman Jones and Rev. David Gomez officiating. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the church.
Timmy was born February 5, 1997 to Timmy L. Cox, Sr. and Melanie Cherie Thomas Cox Carey in Monroe and he passed from this life on February 13, 2015 at LSU Hospital in Shreveport after a tragic accident.
He was a cashier and courtesy clerk for about 2 years at Brookshire's. He loved to play video games, fish, make people laugh, and play jokes on people. He was a member of the Caldwell Parish Band of Spartans until his senior year. He was also in the delayed entry program for the United States Navy. He was preceded in death by his father: Timmy L. Cox, Sr., and paternal grandfather, Willie F. Cox.
Survivors include his mother and step-father: Cherie and Timothy Carey of Grayson; his step-brother, Nathaniel Carey and his wife, Beth, and step-sister, Lanette Carey, both of Foxworth, MS, his cousin that was like a sister: Katelyn Young and husband Terry Young of Clarks; his maternal grandparents, Jeff and Marie Thomas of Grayson; paternal grandparents, Vernell Cupples Cox of Grayson, Barbara Ann DeFriend of Frierson, and Walter and Patricia Carey of Lexington, TX; and a nephew, Elijah Carey of Foxworth, MS.
Pallbearers will be Nathaniel Carey, Cody Stapleton, Derrick Rials, Terry Young, Rodney Bird, Riley Bird, and Chris McKee.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the students and staff at Caldwell Parish High School and the employees of Brookshire's of Columbia.
Through organ donation, Timmy saved 7 lives, gave someone eye sight, and helped numerous people with his tissue/vein/valve donations.
