Joyce Katherine Roberson Hoadley was born August 31, 1931, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, and she passed from this life June 11, 2024, at her home in Olla, Louisiana, after an extended illness. Joyce lived a long happy life. She was a devoted wife and mother. Joyce had an outgoing, friendly personality and she never met a stranger. When she first moved to LaSalle Parish she worked as a waitress, which is how she met the love of her life, Earl Hoadley. She wore many hats during her life. She was known by many as the "Bird Lady" due to her love of raising all types and sizes of birds. This started as a hobby but soon grew to a business. She was an amazing seamstress and was constantly sewing for her family. She made suits for her husband and clothing for her children. This was another hobby that turned into a business when she opened her own dress shop in Olla. She was always a hard worker but she enjoyed life too. She loved to travel whether she was camping or going on cruises. She was also an accomplished bowler. Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl Hoadley; her father, Troy Willis Roberson; her mother, Elsie McFatridge Bellar; her stepmother, who she loved like a mother, Cora Roberson; her sons, Willis Hoadley and Gilbert Hoadley; three sisters: Josephine Carnell, Laverne Womack, and Betty Ann Friday; and two brothers, Calvin Roberson and Travis Roberson.
