Funeral Services for Johnny Dortch will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 10, 2024 at Riser & Son Funeral Home in Columbia, La. with Bro. Shane Duke officiating and interment following in Fellowship Cemetery .

Johnny Ray Dortch was born July, 14, 1943 in Columbia, La to the union of his parents, Wilie Dortch and Monique Washer Dortch and passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024 at his residence. Johnny proudly served his country in the Army and was a devoted father, papaw, son, brother and friend. He was a very hard worker and always provided for his family. Johnny could do anything he set his mind to do. Family always came first with him. He was a very honest and caring man but he meant what he said, and stuck with his high morals. He would protect his family, friends, and animals. He loved watching westerns, hunting, and reading. He was an avid reader of all kinds of books. Some of the greatest memories will be with his coffee drinking granddaughter, Maggie. From the time she was little he would make her coffee (mainly milk) until she grew into the real mug of just coffee.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Jimmy Dortch. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Shirley Potgieter-Garrett (Scott); his brother, Tommy Dortch (Samantha); favorite granddaughter, Maggie Potgieter; and a special friend, Sheila Murphy.

Pallbearers include Tommy Dortch, Gary Watts, Dewey Murphy, Author Fletcher, and Barry Dortch.
