John Allen McDaniel, a Monroe resident formerly of Bastrop, was born on March 6th, 1926 in Kelly to the union of his parents, John Edward McDaniel and Edna Girod McDaniel, and passed away on December 25th, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Peggy Rogers McDaniel.
John proudly served our country in the United States Army during World War II, receiving a Purple Heart for injuries sustained during the war. He was a graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a degree in Chemical Engineering, and retired from International Paper in Bastrop.
Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Imogene Bell of Birmingham, Alabama; his daughters, Karen Morrison of Georgetown, Texas, Susan Brown of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and his son, Emmett (Kelly) McDaniel of Monroe, Louisiana; grandchildren Michael (Emily) Morrison, Matthew (Edina) Morrison, Jennifer Morrison (Nick) Dourgarian, Stepanie Massey, Dustin (Kristi) Brown, Aaron (Rachel) McDaniel, Zachary (Abby) McDaniel, and Sam (Leah) McDaniel, as well as thirteen great-grandchildren.
The family would like to recognize the love and care provided by his longtime friend and caregiver, Ramona Moore.
A private graveside service will be held Saturday, December 28th 2019 at 11 AM under the direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home of Columbia. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in John's memory to:
