John Lawrence Love, age 92, passed away in the Fort Worth, TX area on Thursday, October 29, 2015. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM, Wednesday, November 11, 2015 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia, LA. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery, Grayson, LA. Mr. Love was one of five children of the late Frank C. and Florence H. Love of Grayson, Caldwell Parish, LA. He was born in Grayson on January 11, 1923 and graduated from Grayson High School in 1939. He received a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, LA in 1943 and served over 3 years in the Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. While serving in the European Theater of Operations from 1944 - 1945 he was awarded both the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He worked for Gulf Oil Corporation for more than 35 years, having started with Gulf Oil at its Port Arthur Refinery in 1946 and retired at Gulf's Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Refinery in 1981. He had lived in Longview, TX since 1981. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Love of Longview, TX; daughter, Claudia Love Eckland of Grapevine, TX; his son, Eddy Love of Panama City, Florida; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
