Funeral services for Mrs. JoAnn Day Thompson, age 71 of Columbia, will be 3 PM on Sunday, November 15, 2009 from the chapel of Riser Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Jimmy Goodman officiating with Dick Day delivering the eulogy and Cary McPherson sharing memories. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson. Visitation will be Saturday evening at the funeral home from 4 PM to 9 PM then again Sunday afternoon from 1 PM until time of service. Mrs. Thompson was born in Columbia to the union of Marshall "Dick" Day and Marjorie Hudson Day Crooks and passed from this life on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria. She worked as a greeter for Wal-Mart and was a member of Holum Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Emmett "Dick" Day, Sr. and her sister, Marjorie Wyant. Survivors include her husband; Paul G. Thompson of Columbia, mother; Marjorie Hudson Day Crooks of Columbia, three sons: James Phillip Gregory of Columbia, Mark Hudson Gregory and wife, Anna Leslie Crump of Rhome, TX, Matthew T. Pace and wife, Karen of West Monroe, three daughters: Ronna Lynn Masters and husband, David of Columbia, Donna Hebert and husband, Glenn of Baton Rouge, Tammy Gay McPherson and husband, Cary of Canton, MS, step-son; Lance Anthony Thompson and wife, Lanna of Dripping Springs, TX, step-daughter; Leslie Michelle Thompson Austin and husband, Cade of Austin, TX, two brothers: Dick Day and wife, Libby of Shreveport and Tom Day and wife, Martha of Lafayette, thirteen grandchildren: Deshannon Nicole Sutherlin, Alan David Masters, Jr., Kimberly White, Abigail Nersesian, David Hebert, Shadd Cutter Gregory, Brandy Havard, Steve Mobley, Daniel McPherson, Lindsay McPherson, James Gregory, Christopher Gregory and Kendall Raye Ann Pace, three step-grandchildren: Lauren Austin, Regan Austin and Garrett Thompson and nine great-grandchildren: Katie Lynn Masters, Elizabeth Genette Sutherlin, Joseph Browning Sutherlin, Meagan White, Kate White, Cole Havard, Cody Havard, Cade Havard and Annabelle Mobley. Pallbearers will be Phillip Gregory, Matt Pace, James Gregory, Alan Masters, Jr., Steve Mobley, Daniel McPherson and Chris Gregory.
