JoAnn Bailes Nelson

Funeral services for JoAnn Bailes Nelson, age 84, of Grayson, La will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 24, 2021 from the sanctuary of Clarks Baptist Church, Clarks, Louisiana with Bro. Jack McKeithen and Bro. Jim McKeithen officiating. Interment will follow at Welcome Home Cemetery under the direction of Riser Funeral Home, Columbia, LA. Visitation will be Friday, April 23, 2021 at Clarks Baptist Church, Clarks, La from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

JoAnn was born June 27, 1936 in Corey, LA to the union of her parents, Ned Bailes and Flossie Bates Bailes, and passed from this life April 21, 2021 at her home in Grayson. She worked for many years doing all different jobs including working as an electrician for National Mobile Home Manufacturing. JoAnn loved her family and was a sweet soul with a heart of gold. She would help anybody she could. She loved working with her flowers, shopping, collecting what-nots or anything with roosters. Two of her favorite ways to spend her time was complaining about Wayne’s dogs and spending Wayne’s money. She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Joe V. McKeithen; and her sister, Billie Kerry.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of forty-eight years, Wayne Nelson; daughter, Jeanne Evans (Paul); stepdaughter, Angela Smith (James); sons: Jack McKeithen (Susan), James McKeithen (Carol), Jim McKeithen (Gaye), Joey McKeithen (Misty), Tim McKeithen "The Baby"; her brother, Buddy Bailes (Shirley); along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Jack McKeithen III, Isaac McKeithen, Stephen McKeithen, Robbie McKeithen Jr, Kris McKeithen, and Kyle Wallace. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chuck Cruse, Randy Hatten, Eugene Dunn, Tommy Nelson, Arnold Parker, Joe Tyler, Joe Wallace, Jimmy Bond, and TJ Bond.
