Services for Jimmy L. Martin, Sr. of Kelly will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, September 24, 2008 from the Apostolic Truth Tabernacle in Grayson with Rev. Sherman Jones, Rev. C. R. Martin and Rev. Jack McKeithen officiating. Interment will follow in the Little Star Cemetery east of Kelly. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Apostolic Truth Tabernacle, Hwy 165, Grayson. Mr. Martin was born in Kelly on November 13, 1931 to the union of Clarence and Velma Grant Martin and died Monday, September 22, 2008 at the St. Francis North Hospital in Monroe following a lengthy illness. He was a retired technician with Bell South having worked for 35 years. He served as a Caldwell Parish Police Juror for 10 years and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the Air Force. Survivors include his wife of 53 years: Mary Ann Grant Martin of Kelly, his sons: Lamar Martin of Kelly and C.R. Martin and his wife: Stephanie of Columbia, his grandchildren: Justin Martin of Ruston and Jamie Martin Knox and her husband: Matt of Columbia, his great-grandchildren: BreAnna Knox and Macy Knox, his brothers: Clarence Martin, Jr. of Texas and H.L."Buddy" Martin of Shreveport and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be Wren Crockett, Greg Bassett, Floyd Williams, Bubba Schooler, Marty Hart and James Morris Martin. Honorary are Bill Smith, M.D. Null, Nathan Roark, Tommy Buffington and Benjamin Bratton.
